Southern Comfort

In this project of work, I was photographing the banal in an attempt to uncover truths about society and the pace of life on the South Coast of England. Using desolate sea side locations for exploring paradigmatics whilst exercising artificial and natural lighting simultaneously.

The image-making process was strange for me, as the peripheries of Brighton now feel estranged, rather than what I normally knew as home. The images created were translucent between my view on the area compared to the North West of England and the idea of a slower paced life on the south coast.

Southern Comfort documents life on the South East Coast of England from the perspective of mundanity and every day life.
